PIECES TO PATHWAYS
Pieces to Pathways (P2P) began as a conversation between project coordinators Geoff Wilson and Tim McConnell. The two of them recognized that a gap exists in adequate and appropriate substance use support services for queer and transgender youth in Toronto, and moved to change this so that queer and trans youth get the support they want and have their experiences affirmed, rather than denied.
P2P is a peer-led initiative creating Canada’s first substance use support program for LGBTTQQ2SIA youth ages 16-29 in Toronto - sponsored by Breakaway Addiction Services and funded by the Toronto Central Local Health Integration Network (TCLHIN), P2P is on its way to achieving its mandate.
Phase One began in January of 2015 and ran until March of the same year. It involved conducting a needs assessment of substance use among LGBTTQQ2SIA of the demographic being addressed. The second phase of P2P began in September of 2015 and continued until May of the following year.
